How Our Mixed-Reality Tasting Works
A QUICK LOOK AT WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
Not Just VR
At the open-air Lobster Trap Lounge patio, your tasting adventure blends food, drink, and story with a mix of virtual reality (VR) and tablet play - otherwise known as Mixed Reality (MR).
How it Works
With each course, your host serves the pairing and sets the scene. Guests then take turns with the Meta Quest headset and the tablet - stepping into short interactive moments like exploring an 1800s market, aiming a cannon at a pirate ship, or joining a lively Confederation debate.
While one person is in the spotlight, the rest of the group enjoys the food, the drink, and the fun of watching it unfold. By the end, everyone will have had a turn with both the headset and the tablet and plenty of laughs along the way.
Step Into the Story
You’ll enjoy three generous pairings, guided by our sommelier on the big screen, while your on-site host serves food, pours drinks, answers questions, and leads you into each MR moment. After each pairing, slip on the Meta Quest headset for a short scene where digital characters and props appear right in the real world around you:

Behind the patio, an 1800s market springs to life with barrels, crates, and friendly merchants.

Out front, a cannon takes aim as a pirate ship sails into Charlottetown Harbour.

Along the way, the two John Hamilton Greys pop in for a lively (and cheeky) Confederation debate — with a nod to wine pairings, of course.
About the Headset
A QUICK LOOK AT WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
The Meta Quest is lightweight, wireless, glasses-friendly, and goes on and off in seconds. High-clarity passthrough keeps you aware of your surroundings, so moving around feels natural.
Your host will give simple cues and tips, making it easy to relax and focus on the flavours while we bring the wow.
